A ceremony was held on Friday, at the VFW, honoring all the Purple Heart receipts and their families, in our community, and also Bristow as it now becomes a Purple Heart City. Veteran Tommy Thompson spoke to the attendees and Mayor Kris Wyatt also spoke and accepted the Purple Heart sign for the city. As part of the ceremony, the City recognized Bristows designation as a Purple Heart City and display commemorative signs that will be installed at the major state highway entrances to welcome visitors and serve as a lasting tribute to those who have been wounded or killed in combat.
“Purple Heart recipients have sacrificed far more than most of us can imagine,” said Mayor Kris Wyatt. “This ceremony is our community’s opportunity to thank them, honor their service, and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.”
