Marjorie "Jean" Jacobs was born in Bristow, on May 26, 1936. She went on to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 14, 2021, at the age of 84.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Della Williams, her husband, Clyde Jacobs, her son, Mark Jacobs, and two sisters.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Becky Jacobs and Catherine Hernandez, four sisters, two brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family and friends dearly loved her.

Jean married her husband, Clyde Jacobs, on Oct. 29, 1953, and forged a marriage that would last 60 years until Clyde's death in 2013. Their life together was marked by great devotion to hard work. They were, in fact, the perfect complement to each other. As a couple, Clyde and Jean built several companies associated with the oil and gas industry ( Jacobs Tank Truck Service, Jacobs Supply, Jaco Drilling, Jaco Oil Company, and Jacobs Dozer). Clyde often mused that Jean was the brains behind their business success; she was the finance wizard, managing the financial books and handling scheduling and supply for all five companies and numerous oil leases over their careers. In an industry historically dominated by men, Jean was small in stature but big on impact. Jean would not be ignored. Though toughminded and a no-nonsense businesswoman, she was affectionately known as "Mama Jean" to several younger friends and associates. Jean loved wildlife and raw land. She was indeed a pioneer woman who enjoyed all things of nature. Wild turkey, deer, elk, and various birds (particularly cardinals) were all on her list of favorites, and she was fiercely protective of them. She equally enjoyed domestic farm animals – her life was filled with horses, mules, donkeys, and cattle. And Jean loved to fish, it was a pastime that cleared her head and gave her a sense of serenity. Nothing made her happier than being outdoors, watching a sunrise on the horizon, admiring the wildflowers in the spring, or feeling the crisp fall breeze on her face, these all fed her soul. Jean loved the fall season most and often remarked on the beautiful pinks and blues of the sunset over her farm outside of Bristow as winter announced its approach. She loved the smell of freshly baled hay and the sounds of quail calling in the grass at the farm. But of all the beautiful places and landscapes Jean admired, she was completely enamored of Colorado's great Aspen trees, where she, Clyde, and Mark often visited and hunted over the years. Some of her favorite memories were of these trips. She considered this countryside with its tall white aspen the 8th wonder of the world.

Anyone who knew Jean could vouch for her genuine love of dogs. Over the years, several notable canines made their way into her home and heart. Most recent was Molly, a mixed breed puppy that showed up at her home with mangled ears from what was likely a fight with a coyote. Molly and Jean shared a precious bond. Prior to Molly were two blue healers, Mixer and Sadie, whom Jean credited with bringing her and Clyde back to life after the tragic and untimely death of their only son, Mark. They loved those blue healers. Truly there were many wonderful dogs in Jean's life – Pouty the schnauzer, Paul Rodman the Australian shepherd, and Romel, the faithful German Shepherd that came to work with her every day when they ran Jacobs Supply.

No words can adequately do justice to the life of Jean Jacobs. It is with such great sadness that we say goodbye to this remarkable, one-of-a-kind woman.

She will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love her.

Jean's Motto: If you love a flower, don't

If you love a flower, don't pick it.

Love is not about possession.

Love is about appreciation.
