From the Mayor’s Desk

Body

I am asking, once again, for your support. Together, with my staff, the city council, and the help of many Bristow citizens, we have accomplished so much. That said, we have several projects that I'd like to see through to the end and others I'd like to see put in motion.

Bristow OHCE begin its 2023 year

Body
Bristow OHCE began their new 2023 year with the Leader Training Lesson being 'Storing Food and Food Expiration' presented by Norma Carmen, Vice President for Programs and Leadership Development Chair. Carmen began by saying 'Food storage is kind of like meal planning.' She added 'It would be like having food available for today, next week and an emergency.' Other information that Norma reminded members of was that you can use dented cans, but not bulging or rusty ones, nor use packages that have holes in them. Shoppinghintsinclude picking up meats and fresh vegetables last, make sure refrigerators are below 40 degrees and freezers are zero degrees. Members were also reminded that 'best by' dates on cans does not mean the item has expired. Norma concluded that copies of the handout are available. Connecting with the Leader Lesson, the January roll call question was 'What is the longest expired product you have in your cabinet?'
