In Matthew Three, John the Baptist is at the river Jordan baptizing when Jesus shows up and comes through the crowd. He walks to the river’s edge and steps into the water. (the river He created). We know according to Scripture that John recognized Him and tried to talk Jesus out of it; “I need to be baptized by You,” but out of humble obedience, Jesus submitted himself to the will of the Father, and John baptized Him. You’ll remember when He came out of the water there were some signs: the heavens opened wide, the dove descends, and God speaks: “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.”

Trees removed from Main Street

Body
As everyone traveling on Main Street has noticed, the Bradford Pear trees that adourned the street from 9th to 10th were recently cut down. According to Mayor Rick Pinson, this was done due to the roots of the trees growing under the sidewalks and destroying them and damaging the stem wall to the school. The sidewalks will be replaced and will be extra wide walks, replacing the existing walk all the way out to the curb with possible planters to add some color to the area. The trees at the train depot are also being removed due to the damage they are doing to the buildings there.

Friends of the Library plan events

Body
All over the country, libraries benefit from partner volunteer organizations better known as Friends of the Library. Friends of the Library organizations fill many roles necessary to aid libraries, including fundraising, promoting existing library programs and activities, raising awareness within the community of full library services, offering new programming opportunities such as classes and seminars or other trainings, growing the Friends organization, and more. Until recently, Bristow’s own public library did not benefit from such an organization.
