Keeping It Real with Miranda

I’m starting to think some vehicles come with turn signals as an optional upgrade.

That would explain why I spend so much time behind someone trying to guess their next move. Are we turning? Stopping? Looking for an address? I don’t need your entire itinerary. Just a little blinking hint.

Then there’s the driver who pulls out in front of you like they’re late for the most important appointment of their life, only to settle into a leisurely pace once they’re there.

Apparently, the emergency was getting ahead of me.

Parking lots offer their own entertainment. Some people park so close to the line that getting out requires flexibility I just do not possess. Others take two spaces, perhaps allowing room for their vehicle’s personality. Honestly, who knows?

Oh, and nothing brings strangers together quite like the four way stops in town where everybody suddenly forgets everything they have ever known.

You go. No, you go. Okay, I’ll go! Shoot, now we’re both going!

Of course, I’m sure I’ve been somebody else’s bad driver story a time or two. I’ve missed a turn, hesitated for too long, and discovered the correct lane slightly later than I would have preferred.

It’s easy to assume another driver is careless when we can explain every mistake we make ourselves. Maybe they’re lost. Maybe they’re having a rough day. Maybe they’re also trying to figure out why everybody at the four-way stop is waving.

I’m working on being more patient.

But please, for the love of all things holy, use your blinker! I don’t typically take my crystal ball to town with me and guessing your next move wasn’t on my todo list today.

Until next time, keep laughing, keep learning and keep it real.
