Carmen Bruner performs at the Freeland Center

Local singer, songwriter and performer, Carmen Bruner, released her new self-titled CD, Carmen Bruner, and presented a jazz concert at the Bristow Public Schools, Freeland Fine Arts and Performance Center.

Carmen a local Bristow native and Bristow High School graduate, preformed a live jazz concert that was the celebrate her recently released self-titled EP.

On this program Carmen performed, “Fragile” originally written and performed by Sting, Carmen was recognized for her rendition of this song and was considered for a Grammy nomination and Carmen was also recognized by the International Singer-Songwriters Association a 2021, U.S. Female Rising Star finalist.

On the performance of this song, “Fragile”, Carmen invited three local Bristow High School music students, Mackinsey Darrough, Aaliyah Givens and Hunter Remington, to sing backup.

This concert was hosted by Entertainer Jay Lamont of Los Angeles, California. Also, performing was Bristow High School student Hunter Remington, Tulsa area radio talk show host KC Lupe and Carmen’s brother Lewis Bruner, Jr. also of Bristow. The featured band for the evening was Fayetteville, Arkansas’ own The Crusade Jazz Quartet, led by pianist and producer Reginald James, other member were Garret Jones, Jay Shepard and Anthony Ball.

Carmen notes: "Although my music has now been heard Internationally, this CD release and concert has been a long-awaited event for me. I want to thank the Freeland Center board along with Don Baker and Dr. Chip Cooper, for giving me the opportunity to share my creativity and allowing others such as, music students at Bristow High School, to spotlight their awesome talent as well. I want to thank fellow artists, KC Lupe, Lewis Bruner Jr, and the host of the show, Jay Lamont for their amazing performances which were all highlights of the evening.

In addition, a special appreciation to my band Crusade which includes, Reginald James, Anthony Ball, Garrett Jones, and Jay Shepherd. Thanks, my supporting cast, Anja and Cher Williams Catering, Lewis and Rachel Bruner, Leslie Alexander, Willie Alexander, Sandra Dee Curry, Peyton Bruner, Tilly Bruner, Roy Dunn, Excell La Fayette, III, Freeland Lighting & Sound team also, all the workers that helped make this event happen.

Lastly, I would like to thank my hometown of Bristow for supporting me in this concert, which was also supported by surrounding states."
