Bristow man faces 53 counts of alleged abuse

In February, Bristow News brought you a story about a former Drumright teacher who had been under investigation from the OSBI and the Drumright Police Department and who was eventually arrested in October 2025.

The Drumright Police had received allegations of both sexual and physical abuse involving the agriculture teacher at Drumright Schools, Bobby Gene Pruitt, age 63, of Bristow. Two students had come forward with the allegations that Pruitt had made inappropriate contact with them. Records show that Pruitt had been a teacher at various Oklahoma Schools, including Altus, Olive, Erick and most recently Drumright for over 39 years and was named Teacher of the Year in 2025.

After the allegations were made, Pruitt was placed on administrative leave on Oct. 26, 2025 and on Oct. 29, 2025, Pruitt resigned from his teaching position and turned in his teaching license to the Oklahoma State Board of Education. Pruitt was arrested and booked into Creek County Jail on a one million dollar bond. Pruitt remains in jail. What began as a case involving two students has since expanded to include more than 20 alleged victims, with allegations spanning decades The investigation has been ongoing and Pruitt is now facing 53 felony charges, including lewd molestation, child abuse and rape in the first degree after more than 20 students have come forward. A break down of the charges are 32 counts of Lewd Molestation, seven counts of Rape in the First Degree, nine counts of Child Abuse, two counts of Child Sexual Abuse, two counts of Forcible Sodomy and one count of Assault and Battery. Pruitt appeared in court (by video) on Wednesday, June 17, was remanded to custody and will be back in court on July 29 at 9:30 a.m.
