Bristow VFW Auxiliary Serves Community

Body
The Bristow VFW Auxiliary serves and supports veterans and their families as well as our community. Members are encouraged to serve as a group, with other groups, and as individuals in any capacity that honors the lives, sacrifices, and commitments of our veterans who selflessly served. In that vein, members of the Bristow VFW Auxiliary served veterans and the community for a combined total of 2,293 hours from June 1 to Dec. 31 of 2020.

“Greetings from Bristow” mural finds home at Bristow Museum

Body
The Bristow Historical Museum has a butterfly garden which attracts both butterflies and visitors each year. The garden is on the national Monarch Watch website for butterfly enthusiasts who like to follow the monarch migration each year. This year the museum added a large butterfly mural to the side of the Slyman building just northwest of the depot, near the garden. Visitors can step into the Monarch art and become part of the butterfly body. The museum has had lots of visitors already and loves seeing all the photos taken at the mural. For the shorter visitors, there is a monarch chrysalis where they can stand for their photo. Local artist Andi Levin painted this mural for the museum and it is appreciated so much. Bristow contractor Darren Odell and his children Kamryn and Christian helped hang the mural while T.H. Rogers Lumber Company donated the framing material. Edmond and Sherian Slyman allowed us to use their building. Our thanks to all of these Bristow friends who helped make this happen. The Historical Society loves helping Bristow and making the community better in every way. Swing by and enjoy the art and please send your photos to the museum's Facebook page. #bristowdepot
