The Oklahoma State Department of Health's Vaccine Scheduler has been operational for several weeks now. The portal allows eligible Oklahomans to schedule their COVID-19 vaccination. As of Feb. 2, 2021, 668,221 Oklahomans have registered through the portal and 133,566 appointments have been scheduled by eligible Oklahomans with 96,215 receiving both the first and second dose of the vaccine.

Appointments are added regularly so it is important to check regularly for availability.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health has opted into a Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 vaccinations. This program is a collaboration between the federal government, state and 21 national pharmacy partners and independent pharmacy networks to provide vaccines to eligible individuals. Pharmacies are to begin vaccinations this week. Oklahomans will be able to schedule vaccine appointments directly with their pharmacy. The appointments can only be made with the pharmacy, not the vaccine portal.

The state health department is partnering with school districts across the state to host vaccine clinics for teachers and education staff 65 years or older.

The number of new cases of the virus and related hospitalizations are declining in Oklahoma. New cases are down 49 percent and hospitalizations are down 43 percent. The progress is attributed to the vaccines but largely to the actions that Oklahomans are taking. Every Oklahoman is encouraged to continue practicing the three W’s. Wash your hands, wear a mask and watch your distance.
