Bristow City Council tables possible mask mandate

The Bristow City Council met in the city council chamber in its regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 19. All members of the council were present except, the mayor, Councilman Jeff Roberts and Councilman Jeff Willeford.

After the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer, led by Pastor Ronnie Capps, the board approved the minutes from the previous meeting. A motion was made by Councilman Church and seconded by Flood to approve the consent agenda for un-paid, paid, payroll and estimated payroll claims. All board members were in agreement.

A motion was made by Councilman Johns and seconded by Flood to approve the extend time to award bids in the Fuel Farm Project, for the Jones Memorial Airport, by 90 days. The motion was passed with all council members voting Aye.

There were discussions re garding the old police depatment badges. City Attorney Beth Anne Childs said she was going to look up what the law is when declaring surplus, the sale price and selling of the badges and would get back to Mayor Pinson. A motion was made by Church and seconded by Councilman Johns to approve declaring old police department badges as surplus and allow the officers to purchase them and to give the mayor the authority to set the amount after the city attorney gets back to the mayor. The motion unanimously passed.

A motion was made and seconded approving to table until the Feb. 1, 2021 meeting, consideration, discussion and possible action on instructing the city attorney to draft a mandatory mask mandate for the Bristow community.

On the municipal side of the meeting, the minutes from the previous meeting were approved by the council and approvement of the consent agenda was made with all members voting Aye. A motion was made by Church and seconded by Councilwoman Wyatt to table the consideration and discussion to award bids for the AMI Automatic Metering Infrastructure (water meters and related infrastructure and improvements) and authorization to execute a contract. All board members were in agreement to table the agenda item.
