They were hunted, then caught unaware by bloodthirsty pursuers. The pride of lions arrived. They feasted on the souls of their prey. Some ran, seeking refuge with the sheltered who were safe from the terror. Most were refused help. Who’s feeding the lions?
The prey - women, young children, the elderly - were snatched from their beds and devoured. As brutal Nazi soldiers took them away, millions perished.
God’s Word says: “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). The horror of people being destroyed happened in recent history – in our lifetime. Who’s feeding the lions?
Ordinary citizens of Germany, Poland, and surrounding countries were crammed into filthy cattle cars. No food, water, privacy, toilets, or sleep. It was standing-room only. Some traveled many hours, but others rode the rails for many days under those horrific conditions.
There were dozens of Nazi death camps! An inhumane ideology led to this. Not only were six million Jews murdered, but five million others were also slaughtered. Skin color, ethnicity, the disabled, religious minorities, the elderly, political dissenters, Catholic priests, and anyone whose humanity wasn’t accepted by the “superior race” were annihilated. Who’s feeding the lions?
In Tulsa, on June 30th, the Eva K. Unterman Conference for Holocaust Education was held. Mrs. Unterman, now almost 94 years old, survived the Holocaust!
Eva worked in a factory with her mother, outside the camp. Someone similar to Oskar Schindler owned that business and helped them remain alive.
The motto of Eva Unterman’s conference was “Hate Is Never OK!”
Today, cyber bullies bring about teen, even preteen, suicide. Are parents teaching children to stop the hate? Who’s feeding the lions?
God’s Word makes hate illogical! God teaches that all human life on Earth originated with Adam and Eve (Genesis 1-2). After the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden, the family of Noah became the seed for continuing life. This Bible truth shouts, “We are all related by natural birth!”
Shall hate be your final message to the family in your genealogy?
The first murder was committed by the birth brother of the victim. God had warned Cain to check his attitude toward Abel, but jealousy and hate filled his heart. Cain was feeding the lion.
In Acts 17:24-31, Paul reveals how God used one man to make all mankind. Notice verse 26: “God started with one man. He made all the different people in the world to live everywhere. God decided exactly when and where they must live.” You and I are in their genealogy. Amazing!
Let’s always remember God’s commands: “Do for other people all the things which you want them to do for you” (Matthew 7:12), and “You must love one another, just as I loved you” ( John 13:34). God created us all, and we must remember that all people are precious and valuable!
