What’s in America’s Future?

What will America look like in ten years? Twenty years? What would you want to see for our country during the remainder of your life and, perhaps, beyond the end of your life? For your children? For your grandchildren?

Our country is very divided. Some are concerned for the future of our republic.

Jesus once said to His disciples, “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also...Jesus said…”I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” (John 14:1-3, 6).

Why focus most on this temporal life? An eternity awaits you. Jesus promises to make your life worth living, and holds a place for you in heaven!

When uncontrollable circumstances anger and sadden you, take those concerns to the One who is able to make it better. You never again have to face loneliness, heartache, and disappointments alone.

How much longer will you occupy a place on God’s great earth? Psalm 90 instructs us to look at life realistically: “The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.” (vs. 10)

The apostle James wrote, “Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.” (James 4:14)

Whatever the Lord has planned for America, we need to remember these words: “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God...for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God...Therefore it is necessary to submit to the authorities...” (Romans13:1-5).

Invest your years in the Lord. When you do, your children, grandchildren, and all those who follow after you when you are gone will have a greater quality of living. Then you can look forward to all being together again -- in heaven.
