Some Christian groups focus on prophecy. Many have revealed their calculations for predicting the end of our world. But God isn’t done with us yet!
A prophet of God foretold God’s message, having personally received it from Him. The prophet then revealed it to God’s people.
A forth-telling prophet of God reveals His written Word. All people already have it: the Bible, God’s true and accurate Word. Prophets of God speak what He tells them. A forthtelling prophet today proclaims God’s message, using only the Bible. The message won’t contradict God’s Scripture.
During Israel’s forty years of wandering in the desert, God gave Moses a message for the Israelites. God said, “So, I will raise up a Prophet for them like you. He will come from among their own brothers. I will put My words in his mouth. And, he will tell them everything I command him to do. That Man will speak for Me. Anyone who won’t listen when he speaks will have to answer to Me!” (Deuteronomy 18:18-19) The Old Law was given through Moses, and God would raise up a prophet like him. This must refer to Jesus, who spoke only the truth and came from the lineage of Israel. Jesus is like Moses in that He brought in the New Agreement between God and mankind. Anyone who doesn’t listen to the message from Jesus will face eternity without heaven.
“But, a so-called ‘prophet’ might say something that I did not tell him to say. He might say that he is speaking a word for Me. Or, a so-called ‘prophet’ might be speaking in the name of other gods. That prophet must be killed!
“You might be thinking: ‘How can we know for sure whether a message is from the Always-Present One or not?’ A so-called ‘prophet’ may say, in the name of God, that something is certainly going to happen. If that prediction does happen or come true, then it is not the Always-Present One’s message! That prophet was merely speaking his own ideas. Don’t be afraid of him.” (Deuteronomy 18:20-22).
“Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14) This prophecy refers to Jesus because the fulfillment is found in Matthew 1:22-23.
“Now all this took place so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled: ‘Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they shall name Him Immanuel,’ which translated means ‘God with us.’” Several Scriptures tell what to expect when Jesus arrived. The most descriptive prophecy about Jesus, Isaiah 53, was written 800 years before the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus! Please read this in your own Bible.
God’s prophecies never fail!
