Those under the Old Law were “wandering in deserts, on mountains, and sheltering in caves and holes in the ground… They gained approval through their faith, and did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect” (Hebrews 11: 38-40). Did you see that one word, “better”? God’s promise is for a better world in Jesus!
“…the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus” (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8). Have you obeyed God’s gospel?
Christians believe “the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!” (2 Peter 3:12). This world will vanish!
Anyone who is more attached to this temporary world than to Jesus, will face disaster. If an incomplete bucket list, love for a grandchild, or worldly plans keep you here, earth time will expire for you. Then what?
Why are you holding onto this life?
Jesus comforted a criminal on the cross next to Him. He said, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43). That’ll be better than this place!
Christians will “be absent from the body and…at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8 as life shuts down. You’ll age! All your hard work will kill you. This won’t happen where Jesus dwells. His home is, well, heavenly!
The apostle Paul wrote, “the one who rejects this is not rejecting man, but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you… we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead…God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus… then we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep in the Lord… “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven…with the voice of the archangel…then we who are alive…will be caught up together with them…to meet the Lord in the air, and always be with the Lord… Therefore, comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4 :13-18).
The dead in Christ “have fallen asleep,” and are already there, and will welcome you, with Jesus!
Heaven is a place of reunion with people from this life! The next life is better than this world! You’ll be caught up with them “to meet the Lord in the air.”
