Have you thought much about heaven? Children often think more about being with God forever than older folks, who are closer to knowing what it will be like.
Some world religions speak of a place where life is satisfied with worldly pleasures. If heaven is an unseen place, how can we expect worldly pleasures to be there?
The Word of God tells us of the realities of heaven. We can’t understand or get a picture of a place unless someone who has been there tells us about that place.
For example, if someone you know visits Hawai’i, they might try explaining to you what it’s like, but until you go there you’ll not truly understand the beauty of such “Paradise”.
The only religion that gives an accurate picture of heaven is the one which gives you proof. Who can give us a true explanation of heaven, but the one who has been there and has come to earth?
There are no claims in Islam of anyone going up to heaven, and then returning to earth. Buddhism has no claim of anyone going to a heavenly place, then coming back to describe it to humanity.
Christianity is the only world religion which provides the claim, and the proof of that claim, for describing the future heavenly, eternal world.
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” ( John 17:3). A Spiritual world cannot consist of earthly possessions.
Jesus alone was there, and then came to earth with the explanation of heaven. His many teachings and His abundance of miracles give us confidence in His claims of what heaven is like.
Then consider His abundance of mercy. Jesus wants you there with Him. Is that what you want?
Before dying on the cross, there were two men on either side of Jesus. One mocked Jesus.
The other repented, saying, “we are receiving what we deserve...but this Man has done nothing wrong. And he was saying, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come to your kingdom!’
And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:39-43).
Could this be true? Jesus proved it true. Jesus was raised from the dead! This was His powerful proof of heaven for you.
Jesus can do nothing more to prove heaven: “...In My Father’s house are many dwelling places...And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that...there you may be also” ( John 14:1-3).
Honor God with your life and accept His free gift of salvation, so you, too, can be with Him in Paradise!
