Bristow's own George Krumme has just published a book “A Tale of Our Town” which is a very interesting book about the history of Bristow, absolutely full of knowledge. Krumme says he has been working on gathering information for the book for years but the book became a realty over the last two years. He says a friend talked him into putting the book together. Krumme, now 100 years old, has done his research to make sure all the facts in the book are precise and actual. In years past, Krumme has written several series articles for the Bristow News.

Krumme was born and raised in rural Oklahoma about five miles northeast of Okemah. Over his lifetime, he has accomplished very many feats. He finished high school, in Bristow, at the age of 16 and then attended Oklahoma A&M College as a music major. He left A&M to study weather forecasting at Spartan School of Aeronautics and taught avaiation cadets in Texas. After that, Krumme enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he received training in mathematics and physics at Pomona College in California. Reassignment in the infantry led him to Europe during the Battle of the Buldge where he earned a Purple Heart. After the war, he returned to Pomona and earned his bachelor's degree. After graduation, Krumme returned to Bristow to be with his family and partner in Krumme Oil Company which to this day is still ran by family, his grandson Jay and younger son, Robert. In 1960, Krumme moved to Tulsa and studied nights and weekends at the University of Tulsa earning a master's degree in petroleum engineering and a PH.D in earth science. Now, the publication of his book, “A Tale of Our Town”.

Krumme paid a visit to the Bristow News last week and presented us with a signed copy of his book. A great gift, which we all intend to read. Still with a sharp mind, Krumme told of how he decided to put this book together and the years of research he has done for it. If you would like to get a copy of Krumme's book, contact the Bristow Historical Society. All proceeds from the books the society sells will go to the Bristow Historical Society.
