(USACE Lake Level) Crappie good on hair jigs, jigs, minnows, spoons, and tube jigs around brush structure, channels, docks, and main lake. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, spoons, topwater lures, and worms around coves, docks, points, and riprap. Blue catfish good on chicken liver, cut bait, shad, sunfish around channels, coves, points. Comments: Cooler temperatures this coming up week so get on the water! Crappie bite is pretty solid right now. Fish your favorite jig or a minnow in about 15 ft. of water under a dock or on some brush. Big paddlefish are still being caught in the Jackson Bay area of the main lake. Keep trolling humps and channels around points and structure for white bass. Water flow below the dam has been more consistent, keeping schooling hybrids, white bass, and stripers around. The sunfish bite is still phenomenal!

Grand: August 6. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Striped bass hybrids and white bass good on plastic baits, sassy shad, shad, and spinnerbaits around coves, flats, and points. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits, spinnerbaits, and topwater lures around coves, riprap, shallows, standing timber, and weed beds. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around brush structure. Comments: It’s hot! Much of the fishing activity has slowed but white bass and hybrid activity remains strong. Play the wind—find a flat or point where the shad are being pushed into and there you will find the white bass and hybrids. Many of the coves are producing activity as well. Best times to go are early and late and the activity may be short lived but furious!

Greenleaf: August 7. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 88°F and stained. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits, plastic baits, spinnerbaits, and topwater lures around brush structure, coves, docks, and points. Crappie good on jigs, minnows, and small lures around brush structure, docks, and main lake. Blue and channel catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, shad, and stinkbait around coves, flats, and rocks.

Kaw: August 7. Elevation is 2.5 ft. above normal and stable, water temperature 86°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth and spotted bass fair on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and topwater lures around points and rocks. Blue and channel catfish excellent on cut bait, shad, and shrimp around flats. Striped bass hybrids and white bass good on Alabama rigs, live shad, and spoons around main lake and riprap. Comments: Lake is 2.8 ft. high with no release, but the water clarity is still pretty agood, and the catfish are biting in the flats. White bass and hybrids are under the bridges and on the humps feeding best early and late.

(USACE Lake Level) Crappie good on jigs, live bait, and minnows around brush structure, docks, and standing timber. Largemouth bass slow on crankbaits, jigs, and plastic baits around coves and rocks.
