Bristow Cross Country start the year strong

Bristow Cross Country is off to a great start this year. They competed at Stroud on Saturday August 13th. Starting the day was the elementary division which is 6th grade and below. The Pirates dominated that division taking 4 of the first 5 places. Winning the race was Miles Evans running the 1-mile course in 6:39. Taking 2nd was Raider Rackley in 7:03, 4th was Daison Bruner in 7:19, and 5th was Saylor Rackley in 7:30. Also competing in the elementary division was JJ Fesler 9:37, Addy Wissell 9:41, Noah Hilburn 9:58, Colby Hall 9:58, and Wyatt Hall 10:07.

In the Boys Junior High division Rio Bruner placed 6th with a 1-mile time of 6:24. In the Junior High Girls division the team placed 4th. Individually Aryana Bruner was the champion, winning the race with a time of 6:30. Also placing in the top 20 was Kate Wilhite at 19th at 7:41 and Abby Flood at 20th at 7:48. Cheyenne Evans finished 8:07 and Tinlee Freeman 8:41.

In the High School Boys division Boston Estes placed 3rd and finished the 2-mile course in 12:00. Beau Canfield also medaled placing 15th with a time of 13:06. Also competing was Josh Edens 14:26 and Asa Fortney 14:47. In the High School Girls division the team placed 3rd. Individually, Rori Kelly placed 4th with a time of 6:37 on the 1-mile course. Helping the team earn that 3rd place finish was Kadence Varner 7:24, Delaney Farris 7:57, Zoey Freeman 8:14, and Myah Root 9:03.

I am so proud of all the athletes. They have been working hard all summer and that work is paying off. I am also very proud of my assistant coach Bobby Lyons. He has been running with the athletes all summer helping these athletes to be ready to compete. Our next meet is August 20th at Holdenville. Also the Cross Country would like to invite everybody to our Mock Meet right here in Bristow at Chuck West Fieldhouse on Aug. 27, 2022, at 8 a.m.
