Virgil graduated from Big Spring High School in Big Spring, Texas in 1950. He attended Howard County Junior College where he was an outstanding athlete in basketball and track, holding several records. In 1950, he was drafted by the Navy and served until 1953. He played a big role in helping bring the original soccer program to Bristow. He retired from CE Natco as a lab technician. After retirement he worked for Bristow Public Schools as a school bus driver for many years. He also drove for Cimarron Public Transportation after retirement.

Virgil married Helen Ruth Adams on March 6, 1955.

Virgil was a great friend, mentor, and spiritual leader to many people. He very much loved his family at the New Beginnings Church, in Bristow. His family was the most important thing to him, and he and Helen very rarely missed an event or activity of the children or grandchildren. One of his other great loves was feeding all the deer, birds, and any other critters that came onto his back patio. He kept a daily log of how many animals came to see him. He was loved by many and leaves behind a great hole in our hearts and lives. He is survived by his children,

He is survived by his children, Eddie Jordan, Regenna Craig and husband Joshua, Tammy Kuykendall and husband Eric, Shawn Russell, and wife Renee; one brother, Charles Earl Russell; grandchildren, Amanda De Oliveira, Joseph Jordan, Cassie Brown, Chelsea Pinson, Austin Kuykendall, Kelsey Kuykendall Dakota Kuykendall, Montana Kuykendall, Katlyn Kuykendall, Meghan Russell, and Garrison Russell; great grandchildren, Ethan De Oliveira, Addyson Brown, Peyton Brown and Aidan Kuykendall as well as other extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Miller and Willie Russell; his wife, Helen, in December 2006; one brother, Clarence Russell; one child, Venetta Jo Love.

There will be no public services.
