On Jan. 30, 1935, a handsome baby boy was born to Sedalia Carr and Cleveland Walker, in Beggs. Roosevelt grew up in Beggs. He started working at a young age and developed a very strong work ethic over the years.

As his life began to blossom Roosevelt met, fell in love with and married Donalliva Johnson on Nov. 15, 1954. To this union a beautiful baby boy was born, Edward James Walker Sr.

Roosevelt, a carpenter by trade, loved to fish, host family fish frys, barbeques, and listen to him some down-home blues. He was a carpenter for a total of 41 years.

After retiring, and the loss of his wife, Donalliva, and son James, Roosevelt developed the hobby of going to Wal-Mart here in Bristow. He also frequented the local grocery store Williams; however, Wal-Mart was his favorite place to go throughout the day. He loved to share his wisdom, and to greet everyone with that charming smile of his.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, Sedalia Carr and Cleveland Walker, paternal grandparents, Jane and James Carr, his wife Donalliva Walker, his son, Edward James Walker Sr, and daughter-in-law, Marylee Crawford Walker; siblings, Sidney Walker, Jesse Walker, Lorene Walker, Ola Mae Walker-Lewis, Jeanetta Evans-Williams, and Marozetta Evans.

He leaves to cherish his memory grandson, Edward James Walker Jr (Kathy), of Sapulpa; granddaughter, Rochelle Walker, of Tulsa; five great grandchildren, Jordan Larenz Walker, of Sapulpa, Cory Keith Walker, of Tulsa, Candace Nicole Walker, of Ponca City, Caden Jace Walker and Brinlee Jean Walker, of Sapulpa; three great great-grandchildren, Kaeloni Fruits, Khalea Fruits, and Kamilla Fruits, all of Ponca City; brothers, Alfonso Walker Sr (Carmen), Wilbert Walker (Evelyn), of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jim ”Jimbo” Evans, of Tulsa. Also, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Home Going Services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Trinity Baptist Church, in Bristow.
