Ronald Keith Tiernan, 89, of Tulsa passed away June 13, 2022, peacefully sitting in his favorite chair in the home of one of his children, in Tulsa Ron, as he was known to all his friends (“Papa” to his grandchildren) was born in Bristow to Keith M. Tiernan and Frances A. Tiernan.

Ron attended Bristow High School where he served as vice president of the Purple Pirate student body, Captain of both the basketball and baseball teams (nicknamed "Chirp"), and where he met and married the Basketball and Band queen, Mary “Sue” Cape.

He served as President of Beta Theta Pi at Oklahoma State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in business.

Ron bravely served his country and retired as a Captain in the United States Air Force where he flew fighter jets, F-89’s and F-94’s.

He served as regional marketing manager of Texaco, Inc, where he worked for 34 years. A man who loved and protected his employees, Ron and the Tulsa region he headed up won just about every marketing competition award available. With Texaco, Ron and his wife Sue traveled the world. He was awarded the Texaco Superstar Award eight times, and was given the moniker “Mr. Wonderful” by the marketing Vice President of Texaco, Inc.

Ron loved to golf and very capably pursued this passion zealously as a longtime member of the Oaks Country Club where he routinely played five days a week with his buddies and served as president of the Oaks Men's Club.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jean Cheatham and his wife Mary Sue Tiernan.

Ron is survived by daughter Julia Jackson Fowler, of St. Louis Missouri, sons Darin Tiernan, of Spring, Texas, Brian Tiernan and Tracy Tiernan, both of Tulsa, and 11 grandchildren, Blaine, Megan, Jace, Brookes, Dylan, Brittany, Braden, Easton, Keaton, Ryan and Alex.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Cathedral in downtown Tulsa on Tuesday, June 28 at 10: a.m. There will be a reception immediately following the Mass at Holy Family Cathedral. A Rosary Service is to be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at a time yet to be determined.
