Reverend Charles Wayne Hanna was born May 1, 1934, in Spiro, Oklahoma to Elmer and Artie Hanna. He was the oldest of six children, four sisters and one brother.

On Dec. 22, 1951, Charles Wayne Hanna married Vera Dean Brown. To this union six children were born. Ronnie Wayne, Charles Ray, Kathryn Gail, Jackie Dean, James Cory, and Elmer Roy.

Charles accepted Christ into his life at a young age. At his baptism, the minister foretold his preaching career stating, “You are going to preach the word.” Charles did just that. He was a faithful minister serving the Lord for over 55 years. His ministry included the Murray Spur, Lindsay, and Panama Freewill Baptist Churches where he preached for seven years before transitioning to the First United Methodist Church. There, his pastorship consisted of Quinton/ Kinta, Wapanucka/Clarita, Valiant/Wright City, Atoka/New Zion, Bristow, Skiatook, Carnegie, Alfalfa, Oologah, and Nardin. He retired ministry while at Nardin but was recalled to ministry serving the congregation at Kellyville, where he was pastor for four years before retiring. He remained a faithful member of the Kellyville United Methodist Church and dearly loved his church family.

Charles loved spending time with friends and family and always had a good story or lesson to share. He was full of wisdom and advice and dispensed both to anyone that would listen. Charles enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching sports, and preaching at the fishermen’s revivals. He and pastor friends Don Johnson, Ken Boatman, Paul Wilson, and Morris Pipkin preached revivals for45 years in Wapanucka and Clarita. Many great stories, tall tales, pranks, and memories were made during these revivals.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, an angel came and led Charles to his heavenly home. He had finished his assignment her on earth. God checked his works and said, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Thou has been faithful over a few things; I will make thee the ruler over many things; enter thou unto the Joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:21) Charles is survived by his wife, Vera Dean Hanna, of the home, five sons: Ronnie and wife Pamela, of Spiro, Charles Ray and wife Rhonda, of China Spring, Texas, Jackie Dean and wife Jackie Diane, of Oklahoma City, Coy, of San Antonio, Texas, Roy of San Antonio, Texas, and son-in law Tommy McKinzie, of Bristow; nine grandchildren: Jenny Montgomery and husband Rodney, Scotty McKinzie and wife Jodi, Justin McKinzie, Ronda Marwith and husband Aaron, Charlie Hanna and wife Sammie, Zachary Hanna and wife Mallorie, Christy Hanna, and Elizabeth Hanna; 10 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
