Michael Lee Hicks was born June 18, 1944, to Mamie and Ollie Hicks, in Seagraves, Texas. He departed this life May 10, 2021 at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 22 days.

Growing up Michael attended Hobbs Municipal Schools. Smokey, as he was known by most, served his country faithfully and honorably with the United States Army. Rough around the edges but tender at heart Smokey almost always had a kind word to say about everyone. He was a longtime resident of Bristow, Oklahoma. He worked many years for the city retiring not once but twice. His home always had an open door as he welcomed any visitor. He was a talented artist and he had a love for drawing. An avid fan of wrestling, he was about anything WWE, RAW or Smack down. Smokey loved his family, he made an annual trip every June to Hobbs, New Mexico to visit his siblings and other extended family.

Smokey is survived by four children, Tammy Michelle Hicks Newman, Michael Lee Hicks Jr, Tonya Renee Hicks and Jessica Leann Hicks; one step-daughter, Bobbie Vann, two brothers, Royce Edward Hicks and wife Darlene and Charles Dickson Hicks; one sister, Juanelle Bloodsworth; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and his first wife, Evelyn Newman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife, Mattie B. Hicks; third wife, Lola Ann Spears Hicks; one son Jason Dwayne Hicks and one granddaughter, Amy Dawn Montgomery; two brothers, J.W. Hicks and W.C. “peanut” Hicks and one sister, Bernice Hicks.
