Juanita Faye Smith was born on Feb. 11, 1942, to Herbert and Gracie McGuire. She departed this life on Sept. 16, 2021, at her home in Gypsy at the age of 79 years, seven months and five days.

She graduated from Gypsy School and on June 24, 1961 she married the love of her life, Melton Smith. They have shared 60 blessed years together.

Juanita enjoyed gardening, working on her beautiful yard, and sitting in the swing under her pecan trees. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially all of her “babies”. She was a daily example of what a mom, wife and grandma should be.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Melton of the home; two daughters, Phyllis Hayes and husband Randy, and Loretta VanOrsdol; one son Dwayne Smith and wife, Dian, all of Gypsy; five grandchildren, Amanda VanOrsdol, Daniel VanOrsdol and wife Shelly, Dusty Hayes, Ashley Jenkins and husband Colton and Kate Long and husband Weston; seven great-grandchildren, Warner VanOrsdol, Cooper and Lucy VanOrsdol, Blake and Zoe Hayes, Kenslee Jenkins and Ryleigh Long with another baby on the way. She is also survived by a sister, Florene Smith and three brothers, Hershel McGuire, Odell McGuire and wife Bunny and Ronald McGuire and wife Linda.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Goldie Morton and Effie McGuire and one brother Orvell McGuire.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 at Gypsy Holiness Church with Reverend Nathan Wood officiating.
