Joseph Donald Carman was born Dec. 3, 1931, to James Monroe and Alta Leona Carman in Bartlesville. He departed this life Feb. 15, 2022, at the age of 90.

He was a graduate of Central High School in Bartlesville. He served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 23 years of honorable service. On Nov. 9, 1959, Joseph Donald Carman and Norma Varner were united in marriage. From this union was born a child, DeAnn. Joe and Norma adopted Christopher after the death of his mother, Marla Carman Cimino.

He enjoyed going to the V.F.W. lodge and visiting with the guys. He also enjoyed playing wahoo and collecting Air Force memorabilia. After retiring he worked for the United States Navy at the U.S. Naval Weapons Station and Polaris Missile Base in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Carman; three children, DeAnn Carman, Christopher Carman and Joseph Carman Jr.; two brothers, Thomas L. Carman, and James W. Carman; three grandchildren, Delaney McClammy, Lori Cimino, Krystal Winters, Kymie Carman and Joseph Carman III; numerous great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Charles E. Carman, and Marla J. Cimino, two sisters, Dorothy, and Patricia, one brother Delbert Monroe Carman.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, at Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
