August 24, 1944 - June 18, 2023
Joe Howard was born Aug. 24, 1944, to Jack and Jessie Howard in Bristow. He departed this life June 18, 2023, at the age of 78.
He graduated from Bristow High School in 1962 then attended Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee.
On Aug. 23, 1968, Joe Howard and Susan Bone were united in marriage. From this union was born a daughter, Libbi. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage before her passing on Nov. 6, 2016.
Joe worked at Oklahoma Natural Gas for 38 years as compliance director for the Eastern Region. He was a member of the Bristow First United Methodist Church and attended Faith Baptist Church in Slick.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, spending time on the lake, showing and mentoring others how to show pigs, working out at the gym, and watching Gunsmoke. His true joy came in spending time with his family, especially watching Jake in his activities.
He is survived by his grandson, Jake Bishop; one sister, Cathy Anderson; niece, Jessica Duran; Cousin Larry Armer and wife Kathy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one daughter, Libbi Bishop.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Bristow First United Methodist Church.
