Jimmy Duane Joyce was born to Roger D. and Wanda M. (Watson) Joyce on June 19, 1958 in Hartshorne, OK. At only nine months old, Jimmy was the single survivor of a cartrain accident that took the lives of both parents, as well as his grandmother, Pearl Williams and aunt, Roberta Williams, of Bristow.

Jimmy spent his early life in Gowen. He was raised by his great-grandmother, Ada V. (Wallis) Atkins. She raised Jimmy to be proud of his Native American heritage as he was both Creek and Choctaw. He carried that pride throughout his lifetime, often remembered for keeping traditional long hair.

Jimmy attended school at Hartshorne, ( Jones Academy) and Wilburton, before moving to Bristow, where he graduated with the BHS Class of 1977.

After graduating, Jimmy returned to Wilburton and married Angela Undine Markland. From this union, they had one son, Geoffrey Manville Joyce. Eventually, Jimmy became a truck driver and moved to the Catskill Mountain area of New York. He spent much of his adult life there working as a truck driver, an arborist, and furniture maker.

In 2015 Jimmy returned to Bristow to be closer to family. He enjoyed fishing when he could, as well as spending time with friends, and his beloved dog, Doogie.

Jimmy was a respector of the earth and loved gardening. He was an avid music fan and a life-long animal lover.

Jimmy was preceded in death by both parents, Roger and Wanda Joyce.

He departed this world on May 23, 2022. He is survived by his son, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss his presence. Jimmy is the grandson of R.W. "Bob" and Pearl Williams and Kirk and Essie Joyce.

The family will be holding a memorial for Jimmy on June 19, 2022, on what would have been his 64th birthday. The celebration of life will be held at the Bristow Lake on Sunday evening. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
