When we lose someone we love, we must not learn to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.

Janet McCoy left this earth on Jan. 30, 2022, with family by her side. We take solace in the face that she is no longer in pain, and that she was able to be with her son Robert again. She has missed him so deeply since he passed away, and knowing she is with him now, eases the pain a little more.

Janet was born and raised in San Diego, California, where she raised her own children and a whole host of nieces, nephews, and friends that became family. In 1996, she moved to Bristow and managed the local Kum & Go for close to 20 years.

She was the kind of person who always kept her door open. If you needed a place to stay, or food to eat, or a shoulder to lean on, you could always count on her. She would literally give you the clothes off her back if you needed them.

She was an amazing mother and grandmother who always put the needs of her children above her own.

She cussed like a sailor and couldn’t keep a secret to save her life… but she loved with her whole heart and the world isn’t going to be the same without her in it.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son Robert Dye, of Bristow, Father Hughey “Cotton” Wright, of San Diego, and Brother Benny Wright, of Yuma, Arizona.

She is survived by her Mother Ethel Wright, of San Diego, sister Glenna Johnson, of San Diego, sister Carla Flanagan, of Tennessee, loving husband Lee McCoy, of Bristow, sister-in-Law JoAnne McCoy Schroer, of Bristow, son and daughter-in-Law Cody McCoy and Emily Lovell, adopted daughter Destinee Shulan berger, son Josh McCoy, daughter and son-in-Law Tammy and Len Smith, grandchildren Austin, Jeffery, Devon, Brooklyn, Tre, Zoey, Miyah, TJ and Harlow.

Her final resting place will be in the ocean at Mission Beach, where we spread Robert’s ashes, which was her wish. That celebration of life will occur on April 10, 2022, Mission Beach, San Diego.
