Harley Chestine Root

Harley Chestine Root was born Aug. 12, 1932, to Harley C. and Lillie (Barber) Root in Bristow. He departed this life Sept. 25, 2022, at the age of 90.

He graduated from Bristow High School in 1949. On Feb. 25, 1951, Harley Chestine Root and Donna Jo Satterfield were united in marriage. From this union were born four children, Elizabeth, Margaret, David, and Patricia.

Harley owned and operated Root Lime Company where he served Creek County farmers for over 60 years.

He was a member of the Bristow Church of Christ. Harley enjoyed reading, taking care of his dogs, fishing, going to the coffee shop and spending time on the farm.

He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Donna Root; four children, Elizabeth Johnston, Margaret Kaufman and husband David, David Root, Patricia Mann, and husband Rex; seven grandchildren, Monica Watson, Adrienne Morecraft, Harley David Root, Kristen Root, Matthew Root, Melissa Summar, Kyle Mann; numerous great and great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at the Bristow Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
