Ernest Bruce Fisher died at home south of Slick, Oklahoma on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, at the age of 89. Ernest was the son of Helton P. and Marie (Wilcox) Fisher. He was born and spent most of his life on the family farm near Slick. Ernest attended school in Slick, Texas and Nebraska. Ernest graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1957.

Ernest and Helen Crisp were married in 1956. They had four children: Sharon, Diane, David and Mark. Ernest was a lifelong Seventh-day Adventist and a devoted supporter of the mission of Jesus Christ. Ernest was very active in his church, leading out in youth groups, song services and teaching Sabbath School classes. Ernest was instrumental in church expansion and construction projects.

After graduating from college, Ernest decided to go into the egg business, building his first commercial chicken house around 1958. Ernest and Helen started their egg business, initially selling eggs door-to-door out of the back of the family station wagon. The egg business prospered and continues today, supplying eggs to grocery stores, restaurants and other customers in Bristow, Sapulpa, Tulsa and surrounding communities.

In addition to the egg business Ernest was a farmer, raising crops of wheat, milo, corn and soybeans that he sold commercially and used to make feed for the chickens. In the 1980s, Ernest expanded his business to include a commercial feed mill, mixing chicken feed for his own chickens but also selling animal feed products to the public. After graduating from college, David and Mark joined Ernest in the businesses he began, and they continue today.

In 2003 Ernest married Lori Crawford. Ernest continued to be active on the farm as long as his health allowed. He was a farmer at heart and his greatest joy was working the fields on the tractor.

Ernest’s insight and wise counsel will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Fredrick, Russell and George.

Ernest is survived by his brother, Helton Richard, his wife, Lori; daughters Sharon and husband Ted, and Diane and husband Fernand; sons David and wife Sherry, and Mark and wife Caroline; nine grandchildren; Anthony, Steven, Ashley, Jeffrey, Allyson, Macy, Alexa, Adam and Sophia; four great-grandchildren, Chase, Mary, Paisley and Brooklin; four step-children: Jeff and partner Ruby, Jamie, Geri and husband Norm, David and wife Kacie; and six step-grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Samantha, Trevor, Jerod and Kira.
