Edward Eugene “Gene” McGuire was born May 13, 1942, to Marsh “Pid” and Jessie McGuire in Bristow. He departed this life on Dec. 28, 2022, at the age of 80.

On March 11, 1961, he married the love of his life, Barbara Duke. To this union were born five children. After 25 years of service, he retired from Creek County as a road grader operator. Gene was known to be a simple man that loved country life. He could be seen sitting on his front porch waving to neighbors as they drove by. He made sure to keep a watchful eye toward Gypsy Church where he had been a faithful member most of his life. Gene enjoyed spending time caring for his animals and would always offer livestock advice to all who would listen.

More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; one son, Steve McGuire and wife Fawnda; three daughters, Karen McSpadden and husband David, Kathy Williams and husband Albert, Kim Dykens and husband Tim; also, one that he always referred to as a son, Danny Wiggins and wife Donna; one brother, Kenny McGuire and wife Barbara Sue; one sister-in-law, Waynetta McGuire. He had 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Karla Sheram, one sister, Charlene Pagan, and one brother Hubert McGuire, one grandson and one great grandson.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at the Gypsy Holiness Church. Interment followed at the Sunrise Cemetery.
