Body

Donald Ray Gregory was born May 31, 1940, to Luther and Effie Gregory in Vian, Oklahoma. He departed this life Jan. 02, 2021, at the age of 80 years, seven months, two days. Growing up, Don enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1958. He served faithfully and honorably until his discharge in August of 1961. He had lived several years in the Kansas City, Missouri area working in many facets to support his family. Upon his return to Bristow, Don met Maxine Cochran and they were united in marriage May 29, 1976.

Of all jobs and works in life, none were more precious and rewarding than serving his Lord and Savior as Pastor at Bristow Gospel Tabernacle. The love, in his younger years, for fishing and hunting, though always ever present, seemed to come second to reading and studying his Bible. He loved to garden. When time permitted, he tinkered with things such as clocks and Ham radios. Music was second nature and he loved playing and he loved his dogs. Don was an active member of the VFW.

Don is survived by his wife, of the Bristow home, Maxine; two sons Allen Gregory, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Shawn Anderson, of Bristow; one daughter, DeAnna Dowden, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three sisters Verneal Maze and Lawanna Haffner, of Bristow and Virginia Harris, of Spiro; one brother, Jerald Gregory, of Neosho, Missouri; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Barbara Marlowe.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 07, 2021, at Bristow Gospel Tabernacle with Reverend Delbert Hinshaw officiating. Interment will follow at Welty Cemetery.
