David Eugene Skaggs was born Nov. 3, 1950, to Bessie (Brown) and Silas Skaggs in Canadian, Texas. He departed this life April 5, 2021, at the age of 70 years.

Lifetime Bristow resident, Dave was a 1969 graduate of Bristow High School; marrying the love of his life, Donna Dawson in June of 1970. Celebrating their 50th Anniversary gave them three daughters and a host of “adopted” daughters that came with the territory of a house full of women. Dave worked at Jim Marrs Drilling in Drumright before building a 30 plus year career as owner and operator of Dave’s Diesel. He later worked at Freightliners in Tulsa until his health declined. Dave attended the “Exciting” First Baptist Church of Olive with Pastor Marty Brock. He loved fishing, summers at the Akdar Park at Keystone Lake, helping children receive care through the Shriners Hospital and weekly family Bible study. Above all, he loved a constant house full of family and friends. David was past Worshipful Master of Bristow Masonic Creek Lodge #226; Charter member of Akdar Masonic Lodge #555, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason with Valley of Tulsa Orient of Oklahoma. Past Potentate of Akdar Shrine hosting their 100th anniversary, host of Tri-Temple Spring Ceremonial in Muskogee, past Camaxtli of Oklahoma City, One Los Mizquitl Teocalli #6 and a charter member of Tulsa Huracan Teocalli #125, serving on the Board of Directors. He also worked many years hosting the Akdar Shrine Circus in Tulsa.

David is survived by wife Donna of the home, three daughters, Melissa Poole and husband Monte, of Welty, Kimberly Patten and husband Kenneth, of Bristow, Tammi Edwards and husband Scott, of Bristow; Angie and Eddie Neafus, who are considered his children, of Fort Gibson; eight grandchildren, Cody Poole and wife Haleigh, of Wilmington, North Carolina, Colton Poole and wife Justice, of Mannford, Ethan, Jacquelynn and Elijah Edwards, of Bristow, Hunner, Hannah and Hudson Neafus of Fort Gib son; three great-grandchildren, Bristol, Liam and Channing; two sisters, Helen Miller and Evelyn Jones, of Bristow; one step-brother Shannon Kuykendall and wife Betty, of Van Buren, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Michael and brothers-in-law Walter Jones and Paul Miller.

Funeral services were held 2 p..m , Friday, April 9, 2021, at the “Exciting” First Baptist Church, of Olive. Interment was at Magnolia Memorial Gardens, in Bristow.
