Graveside funeral rites for Bristow resident Charles Mooney were held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at the Bristow City Cemetery. Military funeral honors were provided by the United States Navy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home, of Bristow.

Charles was born in Paradise, California on April 30, 1949 to the late Charles Kenneth Mooney, Sr. and Martha Catherine (Adkins) Mooney. He passed from this life in Harrah, Oklahoma on Feb. 16, 2022, at the age of 72 years, nine months, and 17 days. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to the Olive / Bristow area where he was raised and educated. He attended Olive Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Olive High-School. A few months after graduating, he joined the United States Navy and served his country until 1978. During his service he earned several awards and decorations. After discharge, he returned to the Bristow area where he remained.

Charles was mechanically inclined and had worked as a repairman on the sewing machines for Miss Elaine’s Garment Factory until it closed. He was a member of the VFW and a former member of the Elks Lodge.

He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, playing basketball and shooting pool. He taught his daughters how to play a mean game of pool. He was also a Dallas Cowboys Football fanatic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two-brothers-in-law: Dick Smith and Clarence Mudgett.

His remaining family includes two daughters: Davinna Allensworth, of Harrah; Crystal Lyons, of Ohio; grandchildren: Cody, Kyle, Neysa, Joshua and Hayden; five great grandchildren plus one on the way; three sisters: Lorene Mudgett, of Bristow; Virginia Vaughan, of Owasso; Mary Smith, of Glenpool; several nieces, nephews and other relatives friends.
