Carol Ann Cubbage, age 76, passed away July 2, 2022.She was born Feb. 26, 1946, in Taft, California, to Kenneth P. Jackson and Katherine Hamilton Jackson.

Carol graduated from Bristow High School in 1964; and continued her education, graduating from Northeastern State University of Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1968, obtaining her Bachelor of Elementary Education. Carol taught 4th grade for three (3) years in Tulsa Public Schools and four (4) years at Cushing Public Schools. Thereafter retiring from teaching to become a mother and homemaker for her two children.

Carol co-started a children’s theater in Cushing in 1986, performing plays in the basement of the Cushing Public Library, at Festival in the Park, and wherever else they could find to perform. She envisioned and officially co-founded the Cushing Community Theatre in 1991, and served numerous years as board

President, as well as a director of scores of comedies, dramas and musicals and children’s musicals and plays. She gave SO MUCH time and energy to the theatre for over 30 years and loved it so very much, only taking a step back when her first grandchild, Ryder, was born.

Carol was named class Queen her freshman year and Queen titles including Creek County Fair, Oklahoma 45th Army battalion Queen, among others. Her remarkable beauty and outgoing personality were deemed by many to be extraordinary.

She was a member and recording secretary for Cushing Public Library for multiple years, a long-time member of the Hypatia Club of Cushing, serving as President and secretary, and was a member and feature performer in the productions of Red Stocking Follies.

Carol was a Paul Harris fellow of the Rotary Club of Cushing. And was a member of the Cushing Chamber of Commerce and recipient of the Community Achievement Award in 2010.

She became the co-owner of Oaklawn Farms, in the Council Valley area, Northwest of Cushing, where she served her family well in multiple ways including her outstanding gourmet cooking skills.

Carol was baptized at a young age into the Baptist religion, later converting to Catholicism as a parishioner of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she served as choir director, cantor, Sunday school teacher and numerous other volunteer positions.

Carol is survived by her husband, William Richard Cubbage, whom she married on Aug. 12, 1971, with whom she recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary; daughter, Emily Moore and her husband J. Moore, of Cushing; son, Andrew Cubbage, of Cushing; brother, Jimmie Durrell Jackson, of Bristow; brother, Jerry Jackson and his wife Elizabeth Jackson, of Cushing; three (3) grandchildren, William Ryder Moore, age 10; Amelia J. Moore, age 7, and Nora Kat Moore, age 6; and numerous other family members.

There will be a celebration of life service at the Cushing Community Theater at 5:00 p.m. on July 30, 2022, and a reception thereafter at Buffalo Rock.

Carol was a vibrant light in the Cushing community and had an abundance of love for her family and friends. Her light and love will live on through everyone who was lucky enough to be shined upon by her.
