Billy Joe Rogers was born June 6, 1941, to Fred and Jo Ann Rogers in Bristow. He departed this life May 28, 2022, at the age of 80.

He attended Bristow Public Schools graduating in 1959. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1965. Billy Joe Rogers and Carolyn Jones were united in marriage May 29, 1990.

Bill went to work for the Creek County Highway Department District 3 where he remained for 35 years. He was a faithful member of the Bristow Free Will Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and loved to visit with people. He enjoyed traveling which includes, 24 cruises and numerous bus trips all over the country.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rogers; one son, Billy Rogers Jr.; two stepsons, Chris Jones and wife Lauri, Clay Hinshaw and wife Susan; one stepdaughter, Cyndi Jones and husband David Hailey; two brothers, Stanley Rogers and Bobby Rogers; Grandchildren, Harley Rogers and wife KayLea, and Candice Cruce and husband Michael; step grandchildren, Chaz and Toni Jones, Christen and Dylan Gower, Caitlin Jones, Elizabeth Hinshaw, Samantha, Ellie, and Olivia Whisnant; great grandchildren, Conner, Chase, Mallie and Brody; step great grandchildren, Paislee, Preslee, Kason, Oakleigh, and Waylan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Louise, Jeweldeen, and Anna Mae.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the First Free Will Baptist Church with interment following at the Bristow City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
