Barbara Jeane Montgomery was born Sept. 16, 1948 to John and Viva Davis in Winona, Mississippi. She departed this life March 14, 2025 at the age of 76 years.
Barbara, a 34 year resident of Slick, held many jobs and titles throughout her life. Most recently, she worked as a dispatcher for Calvins Wrecker Service in Bristow but had spent many years prior as a cross-country truck driver with her husband Bub. Barbara’s greatest title was perhaps that of mom and grandma. Life for Barb was centered around Faith, Family and Community she constantly gave of herself, putting others needs before her own. With a big heart came a warm smile. A conversation often gave just a glimpse of her desire and want to help. Barb was fun, lighthearted and full of laughter as she did not shy away from much. She was a member of both Slick First Baptist and later Faith Baptist Church. Where she attended regularly and worked to instill in her family the importance of faith and a relationship with the Lord.
Barbara is survived by three children, John Brown, of Bristow, Sarah Gaskins and husband Nathon, of Slick and Laura Dalton, of Slick; one brother, Buddy Davis and wife Barb of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister, Kathy Nicholson of Van Buren, Missouri; six grandchildren, DJ Horn, Chantel Hill, Saje Gaskins, Sammy Gaskins, Serenity Dalton and Trinity Dalton as well as three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bub Montgomery; daughter, Jackie Brown and sister, Susie Hazel.
