Allen George Baker was born June 27, 1931 in rural Slick, to Pete and Dorothy Baker. He passed away Jan. 17, 2021, surrounded by family, at the age of 89 years, six months and 21 days.

Allen was born and raised on a cattle ranch in Creek County where his dad was a ranch foreman. On July 21, 1951, Allen Baker married Jean Burgett; to this union were born three children. He worked in the oil field as a pumper in the early 1950’s. Allen and Jean moved to Stroud in 1957, and to Depew in 1964; making it their permanent home. He worked for Wilcox Oil Company during the later part of the fifties and into the 1960’s until starting his own water well drilling business in 1973. He ran the business until his retirement in 1989.

Allen and Jean loved to spend their free time traveling, spending most of their time in the Colorado mountains and the Texas coast. They loved being camp hosts in Colorado, spending the evenings group singing with friends. Allen loved horses and created the Depew Round-Up Club for the kids around town. He also enjoyed taking them to Pawhuska every year and participated in local parades.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Baker; daughters, Juanita Gulliver (spouse Michael Gulliver) and Sharon Redford (spouse Richard Redford); six grandchildren, Richard A. Redford, Richard E. Huls, Angela D. Wages, Bridget D. Alexander, and Olivia J. Baker; twelve great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren;

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Dorothy Baker; a son, Kenneth R. Baker; grandson, Richard R. Redford, three sisters, Mary Cochran, Gwendola Worthington, and Lahoma Montgomery; and nephews, Donald Gregory, Ronald Cochran, and Charles Cochran.

Graveside services were held Jan. 22, 2021 at Tuskegee Cemetery, in Tuskegee.

Services were entrusted to Hutchins-Maples Matherly Funeral Home, Bristow.
