Despite temperatures of 105 degrees, BWHD huge success

The Bristow Western Heritage Days Festival, along with the Bristow Rodeo, was held over the weekend and the showing of support was tremendous. With temperatures soaring to 105 degrees, people lined the street and enjoyed all the stuff that was offered at the festival. From a parade at 10 am with of course the Grand Marshall leading the parade, to horses, cars, motorcycles, tractors, cowboys and just a whole lot of fun grouped into a one day event.

The day started off with the parade at 10 am, led by the Grand Marshall Kyle Hilbert, along with his family, then came tractors, cars, motorcycles, wagons and a whole lot of horses. Vendors sat under their shade tents, selling their products and food trucks offered some great tasting food. At noon lawnmower races were held at the corner of Sixth and Main. On Friday and Saturday nights the rodeo was held at the Bristow Sports Complex with mutton busting, bronc and bull riding, and barrel racing. The One Armed Bandit performed with his horses, which was definitely a sight to see and long time rodeo bronc rider, Brad Gower, from Bristow, took his last tribute ride at the Bristow Heritage Rodeo announcing his retirement.
