The holiday season is upon us. Do you enjoy decorating for the holidays, then get out those lights and decorations and enter your hard work in the Light Up Bristow contest.
To bring some holiday cheer to the community, the Bristow Garden Club and the Bristow News will again host a “Light Up Bristow” contest. There will be two judging categories, one for businesses and one for residential lighting. The business category will be judged by the Bristow Garden Club on Thursday, Dec. 9 and the residential category will be judged by the Bristow News on Thursday, Dec. 16. A first and second place winner will be chosen in each category. The first place winner will receive $100, and the second place winner will receive $50. The deadline for entering the residential contest is Dec. 15, with judging to be done the evening of Dec. 16 and winner notification will be Friday, Dec. 17. Entry forms are available at the Bristow News office, 112 W. Sixth.
To spread some Christmas cheer, the garden club will be holding trolley rides for those who wish to see all the towns holiday decorations and lights. The first trolley ride will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 6 – 8 p.m. with two more rides being held on Thursday, Dec. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 23, starting at 6 p.m. The rides will begin at the train depot. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served and on Wed., Dec. 23, there will be a bake sale held at the VFW, beginnning at 6 p.m. and will continue until the baked goods are sold out. There is limited capacity seating on the trolley, so get your tickets early. Tickets may be puchased at Artisians, 118 N. Main.
