Zoey Freeman, a senior at Bristow High School, took the State Championship at the 2024 OSSA Oklahoma State Wrestling tournament, held over the weekend. Bristow had nine qualifiers for state which is the first time in ten years to have this many wrestlers qualify. Six out of the nine qualifiers placed in the tournament but Freemam wrestled her way to the title and was voted Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament in 5A. Freeman shows not only good wrestling skills but good character, sportsmanship and respectfulness. Freeman wrestles with class and character. She has been wrestling since the fourth grade and plans to continue through college.
Other Pirates who placed in the tournament are, senior Chandler Fortney, 165 pounds, placed third; freshman Javon Freeman, 120 pounds, placed fourth; freshman Kale Fruits, 126 pounds, place fourth; junior Hank Powell, 150 pounds, placed fourth and sophomore, Hayden Yocham, 175 pounds, placed second. Overall, out of 28 schools, Bristow placed seventh. A big congratulations goes out to all these hard working athletes.
