The Bristow City Council met in chamber Monday evening, bringing several agenda items in front of the council members to discuss, consider and approve.
On the city side of the agenda, the council approved claims, both paid and unpaid. A public hearing was held for consideration and discussion with possible action on the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board regarding the application for property located at 301 E.1st Street, Bristow, for the intent of a medical cannabis cultivation operation or simply, a grow house for marijuana.
The board discussed possible action to reappoint Albert Titsworth, Ray Smith and Frank Groom, whose term will expires January 2025, to the housing authority board and possible action to appoint Lincoln Breckenridge, to replace Leroy Maroon, whose term expires January 2024, to the housing authority board.
The council members moved on to discuss and possible action approving the insurance renewal quote from Insurica Insurance. Discussion was made on possible action to approve a quote submitted for a lawn mower for the street department.
A public hearing was opened discussion made on the 2022- 2023 proposed budget and the public hearing was closed. The council then discussed adopting a resolution approving the proposed budget.
The council discussed the possible abatement of seven different area properties for either trash, weeds, debris and grass or dilapidated buildings. The properties are located at 206 E. Jackson, owned by Diane Schumacher; 710 E 5th, owned by Dickie Bishop; 708 E. 5th, also owned by Dickie Bishop; 502 S. Oak, owned by Ruby and Christopher Geringer; 226 E. 4th, owned by Joseph and Lori Shrewsbury; 418 S. Walnut, owned by Matt and Amanda Henshaw; and 10 Meadowhill Drive, owned by Judy Jilliane Whited Trust. The mayor adjourned the city meeting and moved on to the municipal and hospital authority agenda, again discussing and possible approvement of claims both paid and unpaid. Public hearings were opened for both authorities with discussion of the 2022- 2023 actual budget for the hospital authority and the proposed budget for the municipal authority. After closing the public hearings, the council discussed adopting a resolution approving both budgets.
Before adjourning the Hospital authority meeting, the council heard comments and questions from the trustees.
