Due to the Labor Day Holiday, the first meeting of the Bristow City Council for September took place on Tuesday evening, instead of Monday, in the city council chambers. The meetings are now being held in the district court room to allow for social distancing due to COVID-19.
Jake Manus pesented the council with discussion on the Economic Development for Bristow and a public hearing was opened and closed for the purpose of discussing the Bristow City Swiming pool, the new design and the proposed improvements planned for it. The council discussed entering into an agreement with Ralph Osborn, CPA to perform the Fiscal Year 2022 City Audit.
Working its way down the agenda, the board discussed purchasing two pre-owned SUV's for the police department, buying back eight cemetery lots from the Ronald Manus Estate, possible installation of speed bumps on the 1200 Block of South Poplar Place and possible action on the city offering an incentive package of $250.00 for the city employees that have received or receive the COVID vaccine.
The council discussed possible abatements, for weeds, grass, trash and/or debris or dilapidated buildings on properties located at 721 S. Walnut, owned by Edwad McCollum c/o Angelina McCollum; 1502 S. Oak, owned by Bobby and Thelma Mahan; 618 East 5th, owned by Fran Aguilera and property in the 700 block of East 4th Street, owned by Etal Frates, Stanley Frates, David Frates, Timir Frates, Richard Henshaw and William Henshaw.
After adjourning from the city portion of the meeting, the council went into the municipal and hospital authority side of the meeting, where they discussed a hospital development agreement between the Bristow Hospital Authority, the City of Bristow and Carrus Health, establishing terms for operation of the existing hospital facility and construction of a new hospital facility in the city.
The council meets the first and third Monday of each month.
