The Bristow City Council was called to order in its regular council meeting with all members present. Pastor Bill Counter led the prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Several items faced the board from the city to the municipal authority to the hospital authority.
A motion was made by Councilman Johns and seconded by Councilwoman Wyatt to approve the adoption of an ordinance levying and assessing a sales tax of one-half percent on certain sales, providing for purpose of of funding capital improvement for a hospital facility in the City of Bristow. This would take effect beginning July 1, 2021 and end July 1, 2031. The motion was approved.
A motion was made by Councilman Johns and seconded by Councilman Willeford to approve a resolution calling for a special election in the City of Bristow on April 6, 2021, for the purpose of submitting a question to the registered voters regarding levy and assessment of a sales tax of one half of one percent upon gross proceeds or gross receipts derived from all sales tax for the purpose of funding improvements to a hospital facility in the city. This motion also passed.
A second ordinance was on the agenda which also passed. The ordinance levying and assessing a sales tax of one half of one percent, in addition to the present sales tax. This would take effect July 1, 2021 and expire July 1, 2031. This ordinance is for the purpose of funding capital improvements for public park and park lands, cultural and recreational facilities in the city.
A second resolution was approved by the board, calling for a special election in the city on April 6, 2021, for the purpose of submitting a question to the registered voters regarding levy and assessment of a sales tax of one-half of one percent for improvements of pubic parks and pubic lands, cultural and recreational facilities of the City of Bristow.
Three other resolutions were passed by the council. Calling for a special election in the City of Bristow on April 6, 2021 and provided for submitting a question to the registered voters of Bristow. The election would be conducted by the Creek County Election Board.
The board approved the hiring of Thomas McKinzie as a Bristow Police Officer with a one year probation period.
On the hospital authority side of the council meeting, a motion was made by Willedford and seconded by Wyatt to approve a claim of $50,000 for the month of Febraury to Bristow Endeavor Healthcare for operational purposes at the Bristow Hospital.
