This month the community will again have access to an acute care hospital. Carrus Lakeside Hospital is set to open its doors this month. The community saw the hospital close its doors on Jan. 1, 2022. The then Bristow Medical Center was managed by Bristow Endeavor. Carrus Health took over and was hoping to quickly reopen the doors of the hospital but after close examination, found that the medical center was so far out of code that it would take an extensive renovation for it to reopen its doors. The renovations of the building were a major undertaking, with new plumbing, HVAC and electrical issues. Another delay was the facility had to go through a new licensing process with the state after it lost its license when Endeavor moved it to a different facility. The whole process of the renovation took a lot longer than Carrus, and the community, had hoped but the time is near for the completion of Phase one of the new facility. The hospital is a level four facility which means it can provide acute care services. The facility can not handle major trauma cases or major surgeries. These patients will still have to be transported to a level two or three facility where they have the ability to take on these types of cases. Carrus Lakeside Hospital will be equipped with a 24 hour emergency service and staff, including imaging services, an outpatient and in-house lab, and there will be a four bed patient wing with another 21 beds to be added in Phase two. If you would like to take a tour of the new facility, Carrus Lakeside Hospital will be holding an Open House, Thursday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
