On Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, the Bristow Police Department was in pursuit of a suspect who eluded the officers but was finally apprehended. It began around 9:30 p.m. when a couple of Bristow officers were on patrol in the area of 12th and Chestnut. The patrol car turned to the east onto 12th when they noticed a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway with its lights off. The emergency lights on the patrol car were activated. The driver turned onto Poplar, followed by the officers who continued to alert the driver to pull over. The vehicle pulled into the front yard of the residence located on South Oak and a passenger jumped out and ran into the yard. The officers, at this time, approached the vehicle but the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and entered back onto Oak Street. The officers began to pursue the vehicle. At one point the subject was going 98 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone. When the subject came to East Washington Street, he jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot to a fenced area at the Rainbow Healthcare Center. The officers pursued the subject on foot finally apprehending him. The subject was identified as Austin Jones.
Upon searching the vehicle, drug paraphernalia, a small vial half full of PCP and meth in a container on a key chain was found.
Jones was booked and transported to the Creek County Jail.
