The Bristow City Council members met in chambers Monday evening to discuss new agenda items pretaining to abatements of properties located inside the city limits. Properties up for abatement due to trash, weeds, grass and debris and/or dilapidated buildings include 1710 S. Poplar, owned by Thomas Arnett; 508 West 8th Street, owned by Ron and Diane Schumaucher; 1907 S. Hickory, owned by Ron and Diane Schumaucher; and property located in the 1500 block of S. Poplar, owned by Tina and Charles Kilburn.
The board then went into executive session to discuss and consider the appraisal and potential purchase of property owned by Kenneth and Inez Johnson. The property is generally located adjacent to the City of Bristow Wastewater Treatment Plant, west of Highway 48. The purchase price agreed upon is $40,000 with the City to provide fencing.
In the prior council meeting the City discussed and approved to adopt a Resolution of the Bristow City Council, declaring the structure located at 103 S. Main, owned by Charles Elliott, dilapidated, abandoned and a Public nuisance detrimental to the health and safety of the public. The board authorized Child's Law Firm to file action and take all reasonably necessay steps to proceed with such action, including removal of the dilapidated structure.
The board also approved appointing John Krumme to the Bristow Library Board. Krumme's term will expire in May 2024.
