With the 2022 legislative session and midterm election cycle solidly in the rearview mirror, the news cycle seems to have finally slowed down. The sense of quiet won’t last long.

The Stephens County Sheriff ’s Office requested assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) after an inmate was found deceased in the jail on Christmas Day. Late morning, another inmate found the deceased alone in a cell unresponsive and immediately began life-saving measures. However, the inmate was already deceased. The deceased inmate was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office who will determine cause and manner of death.
