The 33rd annual Wildflower Run will be held this year on Saturday, May 8. The run was not held last year due to the pandemic. Local runners, as well as ones from out of town, will be in Bristow to make the run. Dr. Chip Cooper said, “This year, due to COVID, there will not be a workout for the kids.” He said, “Hopefully by the end of April shots will be available for all who desires to have one.”

This year the run will be dedicated to all runners, with honorable mention of two walker/runners right here in Bristow, Jerry Drake and Bill Beaver. Both of these guys walk everyday to help stay healthy.

Jerry Drake is 79 years young and says he walks as fast as he can about one hour every morning. Drake retired from the Tulsa Police Department in 1984. Drake said, “ I make sure I walk every day. I am a diabetic and it helps keep my blood sugar in tact.” “I do it for may overall health,” said Drake.

Drake walks with Bill Beaver. Beaver is 75 years young. Beaver said, “I had open heart surgery and was told that walking is good for my heart, therefore I walk every day. I have been walking for approximately six years.” Both he and Drake walk approximately three miles every day.

Entries for the Wildflower Run will be available in April at both SpiritBank and Community Bank.
