When Will We Ever Learn?

A young man said, “I believe in Jesus, and I believe in heaven, but I don’t believe in the devil or hell.”

How can we know what Jesus said or did? Jesus and the Devil, also heaven and hell, are found only in the Bible.

Jesus said, “You come from your father, the Devil... The Devil was a murderer from the very beginning…he is a liar and the father of lies” ( John 8:44). The Devil would tell us, “It’s O.K. to party and have sex with whomever you want. None of that really matters in the end.” The devil wants us to believe such lies. They murder the soul! When will we ever learn?

In the great judgment scene Jesus says to those who reject Him, “Go away from Me into eternal fire. You are condemned! The fire has been prepared for the Devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). That’s a pain-filled place. Read it! Where do you want to spend eternity?

Someone might ask, “Is the Bible trustworthy?” That’s a good and logical question. Read the historical flood account. Consider the scientific geological and topographical evidence which proves Genesis 5:28-11:1.

This flood washed away sin from the earth by destroying all people, except eight, and all animals, except those on the ark. Since this historic Bible account is true you can believe the rest of the Bible. God promised to never again destroy the world with water. Read it!

Someone might ask, “What answers for life - and death does the Bible have for me personally?” We are told in the Bible that “today’s heavens and earth have been reserved for fire” (2 Peter 3: 6- 7).

We don’t know when, nor do we know exactly how God will destroy this present world with fire, but since God once used a world-wide flood to destroy the world, we can be sure that He will consume all people when He burns up the Earth with intense heat. Are you sure it’s worth calling God’s bluff? When will we ever learn?

All living things die. Anyone who was ever born, anything in which there is now life, all that we enjoy here on earth will one day cease to exist. No more life!

The Lord Jesus Christ tells us, “I have said these things to you so that you may have peace in Me. You will have trouble in the world, but be strong; I have conquered the world” ( John 16:33).

The world gives us pain and sorrow, but in Jesus you can overcome. When will we ever learn that only in Jesus we can have eternal life - and peace?
